Media Lab
The Media Lab at Bucks County Community College is designed to foster engaging, immersive learning.
Located in the Library at Newtown Campus, you can interact with 3D printing, VR experiences and VR enhanced learning in the Media Lab. Lab spaces and services are available to Bucks County Community College students, employees, and Bucks community library card holders.
3D Printing Use Policy
The Bucks County Community College Library Media Lab provides access to 3D printing equipment and software to support academic, instructional, and creative exploration. To ensure fair and efficient use of limited resources, the following policy governs access and usage of 3D printing resources:
Priority of Use
Access to 3D printers and related software is prioritized as follows:
- First Priority: Currently registered Bucks students
- Second Priority: College employees
- Third Priority: Library Community Visitor card holders
Requests must be made at least 48 hours prior to print start. Requests will be scheduled accordingly, and higher-priority users may receive precedence if demand exceeds capacity.
Project Approval
All 3D printing projects must be reviewed and approved prior to use of the printers. This review ensures that projects align with College policies, appropriate use of resources, and technical feasibility.
To begin the review process, please email medialab@bucks.edu to discuss the proposed 3D printing project.
Materials and Supplies
Users may be asked to purchase and supply printing materials, such as filament spools, depending on the nature and scale of the project.
General Guidelines
- Users must follow all safety and equipment use instructions.
- Commercial use of 3D printers is not permitted.
- Printing of weapons, weapon parts, or any items that violate College policies or applicable laws is strictly prohibited.
Enforcement and Exceptions
The Media Lab administration reserves the right to limit usage, suspend access, or revise scheduling to ensure equitable and responsible use. Arriving late or missing scheduled times may result in forfeiture of 3D printing privileges.
Exceptions to this policy may be granted on a case-by-case basis by Media Lab administration in consultation with the Dean of Learning Resources.
