How-to use Career Cruising
First, Create a Personal Account
Once you've logged in with the basic account, you will need to create a personal My Plan account to access the full set of tools and features.
Complete Career Matchmaker
Under Assessments, select "Matchmaker & My Skills" to find careers that match your interests.
- Answer the first round of questions and review your initial list of suggested careers.
- Next, you can further refine your results by answering additional questions. Select "Answer More Questions" under Improve Results (on the left side).
- Answer as many of these additional questions as possible, then click the gray View Career Suggestions So Far button.
- Browse Matchmaker’s features by clicking on your name. From there, you can:
- View your recommended careers or pathways.
- Review and change your answers.
- Limit your suggestions to a particular level of education.
- See how other careers not included in your list match up with your answers.
You can also take the My Skills assessment to see how your skills match up.
Explore Careers
There are hundreds of occupation profiles in Career Cruising and a number of ways to search for them by: keyword, index, school subject, career cluster, or by using the Career Selector.
- Select "Careers" in the top menu bar.
- Click on Search By School Subject.
- Select a subject.
- Select an occupation title.
Browse the occupation profile to find information about various aspects of the career, including job description, working conditions, earnings, a sample career path, and related resources.
The Education section of each profile includes direct links to related college programs.
Hear from Professionals
Professionals in their respective fields answer key questions about their experiences, describe a typical day, explain likes and dislikes about the job, and offer advice to those interested in entering that career.
Interviews can be found within the Photos & Interviews section on the left side of the occupation profile.
Explore Schools
Career Cruising provides detailed profiles for thousands of 2- and 4-year institutions. Under the "Education" tab, search schools and programs, or use the School Selector to find schools that meet a variety of criteria.
Financial Aid
Search private Financial Aid programs. Complete as much of the information as you can—the more information you fill out, the more results you will get!
Create a Resume
Under "My Plan" find your summary that includes your assessment outcomes, saved careers, schools and more.
