Virtual Public Safety Training
The Bucks County Community College is proud to continue to provide first responders with additional training and certification modalities. These include the College’s LMS (Learning Management System) provided through Canvas, which offers both a computer and mobile application access for students. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have also added live Zoom courses both for standalone classes and imbedded within our LMS based programs.
With the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Public Safety Training Staff has been working to bring more of our training and certification programs that are lecture only to fully online formats and programs with lecture and practical skills to hybrid formats (Online and Face-to-Face). While many classes will be offered in instructor-led Zoom Sessions you will see more and more of our Professional Certification and other longer session move into our LMS. The goal is to be able to provide synchronous and asynchronous training and certification as best suited to ensure the educational quality of our programs to our student needs.
Many announcements for these opportunities have and will continued to be made through traditional means like our County by County Report on our website, Social Media Posts on our Facebook Page, and by contacting us direct. We have also transitioned a number of our open enrollment fall 2020 courses in our Bucks County Resident Training Catalog to these formats with plans to provide specific virtual and hybrid courses starting in our 2021 Bucks County Resident Training Catalog. As always pre-registration is required and does need to be done atleast 7 full days prior to the start day of the course, holidays would require extra time. This is to ensure we can process the student’s registration form, provide confirmation emails, and have access created for students for these courses, espeicially thoses using our LMS which will include most, if not all of our Professional Certification Programs. We will make every attempt to accommodate students who's registration forms were recevied before the deadline. Late or not received registrations may not be able to be processed because of access logistics. Any Student Pre-registration Form should be faxed to 215-788-4906 or emailed to psreg@bucks.edu. As always course are on a first come first serve basis. It is highly recommended you verify that your registration form was received as Firewalls and Spam filters could capture your email without our knowledge and faxes do not always come through clear or in the right direction. Please do your best to help us, help you by registering early and confirming your paperwork was received before the deadline. Our staff is not in the office daily so forms mailed or dropped off may be delayed so please account for this when deciding to sign up. Please print or type your registration form so they are clear and legible with your correct information including email and phone number. All confirmations will be sent via email so please make sure you check your SPAM folders and do not unsubscribe from the Bucks County Community College Constant Contact emails. Your email confirmation will provide you with infomration for the zoom link if solely using Zoom or LMS login directions for those classes. (NOTE: Make sure you follow the directions for Canvas ahead of time incase you need to contact our Helpdesk with login issues.) Sharing of Zoom Links or LMS login is not permitted. Student’s not registered for a class that enter the online or face to face session without a confirmed spot in the course will be removed from class and will need to re-take the class at a later time. Students found sharing LMS login credentials will create a breach of personal information and may have your ability to access our LMS removed.
