Technology Guidelines for Academic Integrity
Instructors may require students to submit assignments through Internet-based artificial intelligence generators or text similarity detectors, such as Turnitin. If enabled by the instructor in the learning management system (Canvas©, for example) or by other means, students may view a report, which identifies potential plagiarism or artificially generated text. Instructors will take reports into advisement when assessing whether the submission violates the Academic Integrity Policy.
Utilizing their professional judgment, instructors can request the revision of an assignment, refuse to accept an assignment, or file charges at any percentage above 0%. Instructors do not have to accept the assignment if the similarity report is 10% or above (without quoted or bibliographical material) or if the artificial intelligence generator detection report is 40% or above.
