Advisory Grades
After the third week of each semester, and again at the midpoint of the semester, an S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) grade is reported to each student officially enrolled in a course. This grade is advisory only, indicates the quality of the work up to that point of the semester, and is not a permanent part of the academic record.
Grades Earned by Retaking Courses
Students may repeat courses in which they earned grades of "D" or "F" to improve these grades. Students wanting to repeat a course in which a "C" or higher grade was earned must petition the Academic Dean of the department in which the course is offered for permission to register for the course.
The grade earned by retaking a course is the grade counted in the cumulative grade point average. The previous grade will continue to be recorded on the transcript, but the semester hour and quality points will not be used in computing the total semester hours or cumulative grade point average.

Impact of PA/NP Grade on Grade Point Average (GPA) & Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
A grade of PA or NP is not included in the calculation of GPA. The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy requires that the student maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA to remain eligible for financial aid. A grade of PA or NP will not be included in the calculation of GPA.
The SAP policy also requires a 67% pace to remain eligible for financial aid. A grade of PA or NP will count towards the calculation of SAP pace (number of semester hours completed divided by the number of semester hours attempted. PA grades will count as attempted and completed courses. NP grades will not count as completed courses but will count as attempted courses.
The Financial Aid office is available to assist students in evaluating the impact of PA/NP grades on their financial eligibility.
Effect of Academic Integrity Violation on PA/NP Grades
PA/NP grades cannot be used to avoid an “F” that is the result of a violation of the Academic Integrity Policy. In cases where a student receives an “F” as the result of such violation, the student will be issued an “F” on their transcript and cannot request a “NP.”
