Paying for College
Your college education is the best investment you'll ever make in your future. How you finance that investment will take some choices and decisions on your part.
- Financial Aid is any grant, scholarship, loan or employment opportunity with the express purpose of helping a student meet educational and related expenses while attending college. During the 2010-11 academic year, 4,108 Bucks students received some form of financial aid, with the total amount of aid exceeding $20 million.
- Scholarshipsare administered by the Bucks County Community College Foundation and our Financial Aid office. They are for use only at Bucks, unless otherwise noted. Generally, a committee selects recipients during the spring semester preceding the fall semester for which the scholarship is intended. Scholarships are available in the following areas:
- Opportunities for Incoming Students
- Transfer Scholarships
- Dean's Academic Scholarships
- College-Wide Awards
- The Arts
- Business Studies
- Health, Physical Education and Nursing
- Language and Literature
- Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
- Social and Behavioral Science
Financial need-based scholarships are also available. Students are responsible for filing the appropriate form-Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA- prior to completing a scholarship application. Financial need is calculated by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution and any other financial aid from a student's cost of attendance. If any uncovered expenses remain, the student is considered to have financial need for additional assistance.
