The 100-hour Dental Assistant Program at Bucks prepares you for entry-level positions in one of the fastest-growing healthcare positions – Dental Assistant. The purpose of this course is to familiarize you with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the dental practice. Our program is free for those who qualify for funding via PA CareerLink. Scholarships are also available.
This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative aspects include: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical aspects include: introduction to oral anatomy; dental operatory; dental equipment; introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; sterilization; and other areas.
Additionally, this course is designed to prepare you to sit for the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Examination (RHS). The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires that any dental office employee who will be performing radiological procedures as auxiliary personnel (other than a licensed dentist or dental hygienist) must take and pass the DANB Radiology Health and Safety Examination (RHS) and register with the State. The cost of this exam is $250 and is not included as part of the cost of this program. The DANB exam is administered at Pearson Vue Centers.
