Clyde Beury
My introduction to Tai Chi was in the pages of The Last Whole Earth Catalog in 1972 while stationed in the Navy in Italy. I was intrigued by the description and decided to spend the $4.95 on a book written by Yang Zhenduo, Grandfather of Yang Jun, the current Grandmaster.
Fast forward to 2007 and after 35 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor I retire and need to lose the accumulated weight and improve my overall health. The local health club where I am taking Spin Classes offer an introduction to Yang Family Tai Chi. I meet my teacher Jason and resume my Tai Chi journey.
I strongly believe in the importance of self-efficacy in matters of health and wellness. In my retirement I am a volunteer with the Bucks County Area on Aging as a presenter for Project MEDS, a program of medication awareness for seniors. A program through Saint Mary Hospital 10 Keys to Healthy Living for Seniors. And of course, teaching Tai Chi with a focus on the health benefits of this practice.
