ACE Certified Personal Trainer - Exam Prep RFTNS-1009-C01
This course prepares students for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Personal Training (CPT) Exam. ACE fitness certifications are NCCA accredited, setting the highest industry standards, and elevating the role of exercise professionals. This course provides the theoretical knowledge and practical, relevant skills needed to design and apply unique exercise programs based on each client’s goals, abilities, and needs. Students will gain an understanding of the personal trainer’s responsibilities and ethics as well as their role within the healthcare continuum and in allied healthcare - plus the various avenues of career development. Professional responsibilities and legal guidelines will be covered, including the ability to thrive on the business side of personal training. Legal guidelines and business considerations will be addressed, such as legal forms, insurance, record keeping, and risk management that protects clients, stakeholders, and the personal trainer.
Live Online via Zoom and Canvas
Students will submit assigned work to be graded via Canvas.
Zoom Sessions will be held 1x per week, each session approximately 2 hours. Additional Q&A and review sessions will be added if needed. Depending on the availability of students and the instructor, one optional in-person lab will be held at the Newtown Campus. Live Online labs will be held several times throughout the semester.
Dates and times will be determined during the first week of class. Various time/day options will be available to accommodate varying schedules. The instructor is also available by appointment.
Students will receive information and instructions to purchase study materials one week before the course begins.

ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor -Exam Prep RFTNS-8019-C01
This course prepares students for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Group Fitness Instructor Exam. Evidence-based fundamentals of group fitness are partnered with ACE’s signature behavior change philosophy to create compassionate group fitness instructors who empower class participants to live fit and healthy lifestyles. An understanding of the role and scope of a Group Fitness Instructor, exercise and behavior-change principles, and the foundations of movement will be gained. Students will learn how to create choreography and manage the essential parts of a group fitness class, such as designing programs, structuring movements, and developing a class blueprint. Important elements to consider including music, equipment, and apparel will be addressed. Onsite procedures, responsibilities, participant safety, injuries and medical emergencies, basics of nutrition, legal and professional guidelines, and the abundant employment opportunities that exist will be discussed.
