Duquesne University
About Duquesne University
144 Years of Expanding Horizons
Founded by the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, Duquesne University is the only Spiritan institution of higher education in the United States. We share the Spiritans' deep commitment to educational excellence, moral and spiritual values, an ecumenical atmosphere open to diversity, and service to the Church, the community, the nation and the world.
Students come to Duquesne from every state and scores of countries around the world. The curiosity and tenacity that drives our faculty makes their classes and teaching exciting. Because our faculty-student ratio is 14:1, students have plenty of direct access to learn together with eminent and award-winning scholar-teachers.
Students also rave about our beautiful campus being right next to downtown Pittsburgh. While strolling Academic Walk to get to class, you'll enjoy the self-contained park-like campus and a distinctive view of the city skyline.
Just feet from campus, you can visit PPG Paints Arena—home to the Pittsburgh Penguins and big-name music concerts. A few more blocks into town and you'll be in Pittsburgh's Cultural District, where plays, concerts, comedy shows and the ballet await. Plenty of stores and restaurants await downtown and in nearby neighborhoods.
