About Centurion Ale
Centurion Ale is an exploratory release made possible by the collaboration between Bucks County Community College’s Brewing & Fermentation Science Program and Moss Mill Brewing Company.
Centurion Ale was made with several malted barley grades from Proximity Malt; German Tettnang hops; and a German ale yeast strain. It has a deep amber color with an ABV of about 5.5%. The aroma is one of malt (biscuit) and slight hops. The taste is similar with just enough bitterness and not too much sweetness.
Concept Submission Tips and Label Guidelines
To help guide you on your concept submission, here is some background on this beer:
The full name of this version of Centurion Ale is Centurion Ale - Exploratore Release MMXXII. Exploratores were horse-mounted scouts for the Roman Legions. We included this in the name because this first release is exploratory; we are trying to gauge people’s tastes and preferences. There will most likely be another Exploratore release as we adjust the recipe based on feedback.
From our perspective, the ideal concept would include a combined image of a horse-mounted Exploratore interacting with a Roman Centurion. Attention to historical detail is also important.
General guidelines for craft beer labels can be found at the Blue Label Packaging website.
