Scholarships for Historic Preservation Students
Historic preservation students are eligible for thousands of dollars in scholarships every year. Some years these awsrds go unclaimed! Below are some of the scholarships available.
HP students who intend to complete the Historic Preservation Certificate are also eligible for other Social & Behavior Science department scholarships, which can be found here:

Lyle L. Rosenberger Historic Preservation Scholarship
- $250 award per recipient
The scholarship is open to all students in the College's Historic Preservation Program. At the time of application, students must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, and submit a typed essay describing the importance and priorities for historic preservation in Bucks County.
Dr. Raymond J. O'Brien Professor Emeritus Scholarship
- $300.00
Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application: Currently enrolled in one of the following programs: o Historic Preservation (Certificate) o Education (Transfer) o History (Transfer); Intend to enroll in BCCC for the following semester in a minimum of three (3) credits; Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5, and be in good academic standing and in conformance with the College's Code of Conduct
If applicant is enrolled in the Historic Preservation program, s/he must have completed a minimum of one class in the program. If the applicant is enrolled as an Education or History major, s/he must have completed a minimum of 12 credits at BCCC.
Previous recipients are not eligible to apply.
Preference is given to students who live in Bucks County.
A letter of recommendation on letterhead is required in order to apply for this scholarship
Tyler Preservation Committee Scholarship
- $500.00
Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application: Enrolled in BCCC's Historic Preservation Program in the Department of Social & Behavioral Science. Must intend to return to BCCCC in the following semester after the award is made, and enroll in a minimum of three (3) credits in the Historic Preservation Program. Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
Upper Makefield Historical Society Endowment Scholarship
- $1,536.00
Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application:
Currently enrolled in BCCC in one of the following programs: Historic Preservation (Certificate Major), History (Transfer Major)
Intend to enroll in BCCC for the following fall semester in a minimum of three (3) credits.
Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
Submit a letter of recommendation and answer the required essay question(s).
Preference is given to student who demonstrate financial need as determined by BCCC’s Financial Aid Office.
John E. Long, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Endowment
- $500.00 per recipient
Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application:
Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits in one of the following programs: o Secondary Education: History (Transfer) o Liberal Arts: American Studies (Transfer) o Historic Preservation (Certificate) o Chef Apprenticeship: Foods emphasis (Occupational) o Chef Apprenticeship: Pastry emphasis (Occupational) o Culinary: Pastry/Catering (Certificate)
Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0, and intend to reenroll at BCCC in a minimum of six (6) credits in the semester after the award is made.
Northampton Historical Society Legacy Scholarship
- One 3-credit course (tuition only)
Applicants must meet the following requirements at the time of application:
Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits in BCCC’s Historic Preservation Certificate Program, maintain a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, be a Bucks County resident
Preference is given to students who reside in Northampton Township. Must submit a 500-word essay, describing the relevance and value of historic preservation in Bucks County, Pa. Must intend to return to BCCC and enroll in a minimum of 6 credits in the Historic Preservation Certificate Program.
