Historic Preservation Program
Bucks Preservation is proud to have offered the first complete online Certificate Program in Historic Preservation.
Students near and far can now access the award-winning program from their desktops, joining a network of professional preservationists, conservators, attorneys, planners, architects, and commissioners, who share a passion and commitment to historic preservation.
Traditional Classroom
BCCC pioneered a traditional classroom-based certificate program in Historic Preservation in 1991. Through the years, hundreds of students have acquired knowledge and expertise through course work and hands-on projects, going on to work in both the private and public sectors and continuing to make a difference in their communities through a variety of projects.
Online Classroom
Preservation faculty built on the success of this award-winning program by making the Certificate available to students online in 2007. Online courses retain the successful elements of the on-campus program and enable students from any corner of the country to utilize their local historic resources to complete the course work. In 2010, the program graduated its first students who completed all the Certificate credits online.
Global Classroom
In 2019, the Bucks Historic Preservation Program passed another educational milestone, becoming the first Preservation program in the nation to meld the online and face-to-face learning experiences in the global classroom. Students can attend these courses from any of the school’s four campuses: Upper Bucks, Lower Bucks, Main Campus, and Virtual Campus. Students gather at the same time for class every week and learn from a “live” professor through Bucks interactive technology. This synchronous learning experience allows students from all over the county, the country, the continent, and beyond to learn the fundamentals of historic preservation from wherever it suits them best.
Ongoing Innovation
The Bucks Historic Preservation program enables anyone to take courses and receive bona fide academic credits for their scholarly work. Our online campus allows students to easily fit this kind of instruction into an increasingly busy work schedule; our global campus meets the needs of students close-by and at a distance by bringing the best of online and the best of face-to-face instruction to their preferred learning environment.
Anyone with an interest in pursuing preservation knowledge and skills to reach their goals or who simply wants to know more about the field will find all of our course offerings both challenging and rewarding.
