- Assumes student has addressed fundamental, mechanical, and aesthetic issues of stained glass in the architectural context. Tool and safe shop practices are emphasized.
- VI. Catalog Course Description
- Students further develop their skills in making architectural stained glass windows and create more complex designs. Students employ traditional methods and are introduced to the additional techniques of plating, painting, gold staining, etching, and slumping.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- recognize and apply the safety procedures necessary in making stained glass windows;
- design and execute an architectural stained glass window using both traditional methods and more advanced techniques; and
- analyze projects through critiques, oral presentations, and discussions.

Planned Sequence of Topics and/or Learning Activities
- students prepare their own designs for stained glass windows
- students evaluate their concepts from an aesthetic perspective and from a functional perspective
- students refine their designs as necessary
- students select and apply both traditional and more advanced methods in the creation of their architectural stained glass
- students will demonstrate safe shop practices

Assessment Methods for Course Learning Goals
- Course learning goals are assessed with group critiques of all projects, based on the successful design, execution, and completion of assigned projects.
- At least two individual critiques with instructor are held each semester, to assess projects using the above criteria and to review students' overall progress.
- Quizzes on tools and processes and safety are given.
- Students demonstrate tool and shop safety practices.
