- This course investigates the roles and functions of the first-level supervisor in industrial, business, and institutional settings, both profit and non-profit. It reviews supervisory practices that relate directly to general issues and problems of managers at the first level and emphasizes the management of human relations from a supervisory perspective.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- apply the fundamental management functions and concepts to the daily duties of supervising employees;
- explain the supervisor's role as a leader in supervising groups;
- outline the role of the supervisor in the processes of employee selection, orientation, and training;
- describe how the supervisor manages change and the stress associated with change; and
- explain the responsibilities of the supervisor, including the employee safety, environmental safety, and health.
