- VI. Catalog Course Description
- This course satisfies the transfer requirements for Physical Education majors. It is designed to meet all American Red Cross requirements. Students will receive certification in lifeguarding, first aid, and other appropriate certifications. Basic concepts of exercise physiology and nutrition will be presented.

The students will be able to:
- Explain lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques in case of drowning or water related accidents;
- Explain and implement the steps of an emergency action plan [Critical Thinking];
- Demonstrate the ability respond quickly and effectively to emergencies;
- Demonstrate skills required for first aid techniques, CPR, and AED [Critical Thinking]; and
- Explain and analyze current concepts of exercise physiology and nutrition and apply them to lead a healthy life. [Critical Thinking].
