- This course is a study of the antecedents, major events, and aftermath of the Holocaust. Students engage a variety of primary sources and archival media to develop their understanding of the Holocaust through multiple perspectives, and as a framework for interpreting modern genocide.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:- Develop an understanding of how, when, and where the Holocaust took place, the variety of experiences of those impacted, and its aftermath, including key historical, political, and cultural contexts;
- Analyze the motivations, roles and responsibilities of individuals, groups, and national governments when confronted with civil and human rights violations, war crimes and genocide;
- Identify and analyze patterns and antecedents that threaten human rights and democratic institutions and may lead to atrocity and genocide; and;
- Apply knowledge of the Holocaust to interpret present-day examples of bias, discrimination, and inequity.
