- VI. Catalog Course Description
- Students participate in on-the-job experience and observation to support students' academic and career development in writing and/or researching. Students periodically review actual experience and observation in light of theory and skills learned academically with a faculty coordinator.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- Utilize effectively various writing and/or researching skills, depending on the writing/researching projects needed by the employer.
- Use effectively their written and verbal skills to describe and evaluate their work experiences and to communicate with the employer and the faculty coordinator

Planned Sequence of Topics and/or Learning Activities
- Students work a minimum of 150 hours during the semester period in which the student is enrolled in this course. Students maintain a log to register days, times, and total hours worked that will be signed by the student and the student's immediate supervisor. The log is turned in by the student to the faculty coordinator, to be verified with the employer, and it will be evaluated by the faculty coordinator as a part of the student's final grade.
- Students will work on a writing and/or researching project which will depend upon the needs of the employer, and it will be evaluated by their employer using the criteria established by the faculty coordinator in conjunction with the employer's standards of performance.
- Students will complete an in-depth written project describing and evaluating their work experience which will be evaluated by the faculty coordinator.

Assessment Methods for Course Learning Goals
Course learning goals are assessed by an evaluation of the student log, the student writing project, and the evaluation from the employer. -
