- VI. Catalog Course Description
- This course explores concepts and principles of evidence-based nursing care within health-illness- wellness, professional nursing practice, and healthcare environments to facilitate and provide safe, quality nursing interventions to adults and childbearing families. Knowledge, skills, and values integration is emphasized in the implementation of competent patient centered care within a legal/ethical framework.

Course Learning Goals
Upon completion of this course the student will:
- Implement the nursing process in the provision of evidence-based nursing care to diverse adults and child-bearing families experiencing health issues using knowledge and skills related to selected physiological and psychosocial concepts;
- Utilize strategies for communication with adults, child-bearing families and their support systems that recognize unique, individualized needs;
- Demonstrate information literacy in using current technology while documenting care for patients and child-bearing families;
- Implement the nursing role within the interprofessional approach to the care of adults and childbearing families; and
- Practice within the legal/ethical and regulatory foundations of professional nursing practice.
