This capstone course is designed for students in the Cinema Video, Multimedia and Photography transfer majors. Ideally, it should be taken one semester before the student's final semester in the program. Additional lab hours are required. Departmental equipment is used in this class. Equipment sign-out procedures are reviewed in class and include consequences of equipment damage and assessment of late fees. Studio courses can be expensive.
This course meets the General Education requirement for Oral Communication.

- Students develop and enhance their portfolio for transfer, employment or entrepreneurial pursuits. Students prepare and deliver an informative speech describing their work using appropriate vocabulary and/or historical references. Students engage in class critiques of their work and the work of other students.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- evaluate the role of entrepreneurship in digital arts, film and photography;
- develop and evaluate projects;
- prepare a complete portfolio, including resume, cover letter, artist's statement, and samples of their creative work;
- prepare and deliver an informative speech describing their work, using appropriate vocabulary and historical references [Oral Communication]; and
- demonstrate the process of constructive self-criticism and constructive criticism of others' projects and oral presentations.

Planned Sequence of Topics and/or Learning Activities
Students will:
- collect their strongest, most developed examples of artistic and written work from completed courses within the program of study;
- meet with the instructor and create a personal plan for improvement and development of work based on specific transfer and/or employment goals;
- demonstrate an ability to compile and present their work, as appropriate;
- develop a resume;
- examine the marketplace for potential employment and entrepreneurial opportunities;
- compose an artist's statement and cover letter;
- develop and present concept and project pitches;
- prepare a complete portfolio;
- apply to transfer institutions and/or apply for employment;
- develop and present an informative, 7 to 10-minute oral presentation of their portfolio, explaining their ideas and their work to faculty and peers; and
- attend lectures presented by representatives from professional art schools related to transfer, and possible employment in the arts.

Assessment Methods for Course Learning Goals
- At least two individual critiques with the instructor are held each semester, to assess projects in the portfolio and to review students' overall progress.
- Students present their portfolios, and these then are critiqued through the use of a rubric by the class, and by the instructor.
- Students present their project ideas and developed pitches and these then are critiqued through the use of a rubric by the class, and by the instructor.
- The instructor assesses writing samples based on logic, clarity, neatness, and professionalism appropriate for a portfolio.
- Students complete a pre/post survey assessing their propensity for entrepreneurship skills.
