- Students will need to work on assignments outside of class. The required software is available in designated labs on campus.
- VI. Catalog Course Description
- This course is an introduction to the HTML coding and techniques used to create websites. Students learn to design and develop interactive websites using both editors and hand coding skills. Project management and design skills are introduced. The semester culminates in the development of a website.

Course Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
- explain and use the HTML tags needed to create web sites;
- demonstrate how to manage web sites on a remote server;
- create a design plan for a web site;
- create interactive elements that add interest to a web site; and
- create and edit web sites manually and in Dreamweaver.

Students will be able to:
- apply web site management skills, including:
- connecting and transferring files to servers;
- managing assets, links, and files for a site;
- synchronizing files; and
- applying rules for file naming conventions.
- apply design principles to:
- create effective site navigation;
- manage page size and ensure consistency in page delivery;
- develop user interface;
- integrate W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) standards; and
- ensure Accessibility Standards are met.
- demonstrate proper HTML coding, including:
- basic page coding;
- creating text on web pages;
- hypertext linking to create interactivity;
- inserting graphics;
- layout coding, including tables, frames, and layers;
- CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) application;
- forms development;
- developing Animations; and
- using common scripts and applets.
- plan and develop a web site demonstrating the ability to:
- manage content for deliver;
- select the correct tools to achieve a design plan;
- utilize the functionality of editor application software;
- apply project management skills;
- integrate design and coding skills; and
- test and evaluate pages and sites.

Assessment Methods for Course Learning Goals
Student assessment is based on the successful completion of assigned projects, the presentation of projects, and critiques. Projects are assessed through critiques, oral presentations, and discussions. -
