- This course presents the principles, techniques, and concepts needed for managerial analysis and decision-making. It highlights the effective management of planning, organizing, influencing, and controlling related to the internal and external environment and issues of ethics and social responsibility. It emphasizes a variety of communication skills.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- demonstrate an understanding of current and relevant management knowledge;
- describe the effective management skills needed to maximize individual and organizational productivity related to the internal and external environment and issues of ethics and social responsibility;
- employ writing skills that are compatible with standards in business; and
- demonstrate the ability to communicate his/her ideas and opinions in a clear and logical form.

- discuss the historical evolution of theories of management, including important contemporary thinking and research
- explain the components and complexities of an organization's culture and its impact on the manager
- discuss the social responsibilities of an organization and relate ethical considerations to policy formulation
- list the elements and steps in the rational decision-making process and discuss decision-making, including group decision making, as it currently is practiced, identifying the constraints that exist
- understand the factors of group dynamics, in both formal and informal groups
- distinguish among strategic, tactical, and operational plans and explain the benefits of planning
- discuss the strategic management process
- describe the major considerations in organizing an enterprise's resources, including human resources
- compare organizational design options
- understand the nature of change in the organization
- summarize the various theories of motivation and develop useful guidelines in motivating employees
- evaluate the alternative leadership styles and make a decision regarding their appropriate use
- explain the importance of control as it relates to other managerial functions
- outline the control process and discuss the various methods of control available to the manager
- demonstrate the ability to formulate and resolve managerial problems through the use of situation analysis
