- This course offers the student knowledge and practice in medical assisting skills required in a medical office. Pharmacology, medication administration, and principles of medical assisting in specialized areas of medicine are the main focus.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- demonstrate an understanding of best practice in maintaining awareness of federal and state health care legislation and regulations, including all aspects of controlled substances;
- demonstrate an understanding of best practice in preparing and administering medications via oral and parenteral routes;
- prepare the patient for and assist with various types of examinations; and
- assist with treatment and screening follow-up and teach methods of health promotion.
