- A study and application of the theories of movement, games, self-testing, and challenge activities suitable for young children. The growth patterns, developmental needs, interests, and related movement activities of elementary school children are examined. Field experience is included. Lifetime health benefits related to proper nutrition and exercise physiology are examined.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- define the purpose of movement experiences of young children in a school curriculum.;
- gain an understanding of the activities and functions of movement education and physical education in early childhood;
- develop a working knowledge of the educational models designed for young children: Day Care Centers, Nursery Schools, Elementary Schools;
- develop a comprehensive physical education curriculum that ranges from early childhood through elementary school; and
- develop a functional understanding of the physical, mental and emotional development of children.
