HLTH1030H is part of the Honors@Bucks program. Honors@Bucks challenges high-ability, intellectually curious students through coursework emphasizing scholarly research, high-order critical thinking, and experiential learning.
Students cannot register for honors coursework until they have applied to and been accepted by the Honors@Bucks program.
Honors@Bucks is open to students in all associate degree programs who meet Honors@Bucks' criteria.

- This course is an introduction to perplexing personal and social health problems in contemporary society, providing opinions, data, and facts that help the student investigate these problems. A synthesis of knowledge is presented from a variety of disciplines, such as medicine, psychology, physiology, sociology, sexology, and child development.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- analyze and interpret current literature on health guidelines and disease to connect ones' own lifestyle behaviors to disease prevention and treatment [Critical Thinking];
- identify personal health guidelines, based on scientifically valid data;
- demonstrate understanding that his or her health is affected by physical, mental, social, and spiritual interactions and variables;
- identify physiological, psychologicall, and epidemiological variables related to chronic diseases, transmitted diseases, diseases of addiction, and mental illnesses;
- demonstrate an understanding of humans' impact on the environment and identify ways to protect it for future generations; and
- employ stress management techniques into everyday situations.
