- This course is an introductory survey of the evolution, principles, concepts, and practice of the theory and nature of the criminal justice system including police, courts, and corrections systems.

Course Learning Goals
Students will:
- identify the evolution, principles, concepts, and practice of the theory and nature of the criminal justice system in the United States;
- examine the nature and causes of crime and criminal responsibility;
- demonstrate an understanding of the theories of criminal law and definitions of various types of crimes; and
- identify each step in the basic adult criminal justice process and the juvenile system processes.
