How to Join Our Staff
Thank you for your interest in the Bucks County Community College Academic Success Center. Our tutors, mentors, and staff members play an important role in helping our student body achieve their goals. To become an integral part of the ASC team, applicants must meet certain criteria. Please note that students do not need previous tutoring or mentoring experience to apply for a position, as the Center provides training.

The Application Process
The application process includes multiple phases. First, candidates must submit the appropriate application, which can be found at the bottom of this page. Second, pending a review of the application and Center staffing needs, candidates will be invited to interview for the position, after which they may also be required to complete a subject-specific skills assessment. For non-BCCC student applicants, please submit a resume and unofficial transcripts with your application. If recommended for a position, candidates will then complete a background check and all HR or work study procedures before being officially offered a position.
Tutor Criteria
To qualify for a tutoring position, candidates must have a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least a 3.2, must meet the specific requirements for the subject (Detailed Here), and must be able to communicate effectively. If an applicant meets these criteria and a position is open, then they will be contacted for an interview and will meet with the Assistant Directors.
Peer Mentor Criteria (Success Advocates)
Success Advocates offering peer mentoring to their fellow students. To qualify for an Advocate position, students must have completed at least one full-time semester (two preferred), have a 3.0 GPA or CGPA or above, have high motivation and leadership skills, and have general knowledge of Bucks resources and services. Applicants must also submit a faculty recommendation.
Front Desk Student Worker/Receptionist
Student workers are hired for the front desk receptionist position at the Newtown Center through the Federal or College Work Study program. Students must apply through Financial Aid for Federal Work Study to be eligible for a position. If students do not qualify for Federal Work Study, then the Center may be able to hire students through the College Work Study program.
