Types of Transfer Agreements

Bucks County Community College transfer agreements come in many forms, shapes and sizes. They are designed by BCCC in conjunction with the four-year school to make your transfer a smooth proposition.

General information concerning transfer agreements:

  • You Will Stay for the A.A. - Most transfer agreements are built on the premise that you will graduate from Bucks with an Associate of Arts (two-year) degree.
  • Agreements Vary - Some agreements are based on obtaining any associate degree. Some apply to only specific BCCC programs. Each college is different, so transfer admission criteria and the requirements of the transfer agreements will be different as well.
  • Business Here, Business There...Most transfer agreements are built on the understanding that you will be following a program of study (as specified in the agreement) that has a parallel at the four year school. (Example: Your major at Bucks is Business Administration; your intended major at XYZ College is Management.)
  • Details, Exceptions, Etc. - The details of transfer agreements differ from school to school. Example: Some schools will accept "D" grades as part of an agreement, some will not. Some schools will accept courses they would normally consider nontransferable as part of an agreement.
  • Prerequisites May Extend Your Stay at BCCC - Most agreements are built on the premise that you will complete the Recommended Semester Sequence of a particular program of study as outlined in the BCCC catalog.

    Please note: If you are required to take prerequisite or developmental courses (courses that are not considered to be at college level), it will take you a bit longer to complete your degree requirements. That is fine, since these courses will help you succeed in the college level courses. Also, you are saving time and money in the long run.
  • Money, If You Do Well - Some schools attach academic performance based scholarships to their transfer agreements to attract qualified students to their programs.
