Centurions Golf Team Places Second in State, First in Conference
Team was edged out by Potomac State, part of West Va. University, in two-day tournament Oct. 12 - 13 near Harrisburg
Coming off of a first-place conference finish, the Bucks County Community College golf team recently placed second in the state tournament.
At the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association tournament Oct. 12 – 13, the Centurions’ two-day total was 481, placing second to Potamac State, a Division I team that’s part of West Virginia University, which scored 467. A total of 14 teams competed in the tournament at Penn National Golf Club near Harrisburg.
The Bucks team was led by third place medalist Evan Navitsky of Holland with two day total of 154. In sixth place was Langhorne’s Jeff Peltz, with a two-day total of 163, followed by Jarret Neely of Richboro with a two-day total of 164.
On October 5, the Bucks golf team placed first in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference League Tournament at Golden Oaks. The team, consisting of Pete Carter – Bensalem, Scott Simon – Levittown, John Moran – Langhorne, Peltz, Neely, and Navitsky, won with a team total of 334, giving them the top seed from the east going into the State Tournament. Leading the Centurion Golf Team was Moran with a score of 81, followed by Peltz with 82, Neely with 85, and Simon with 86.
The Bucks Golf Team is coached by Scott Bradshaw, who in his seventh season. Next spring, the Bucks Golf Team will compete in NJCAA Division III, and is looking forward to a return visit to the National Championship in 2010.
