Prior Learning Assessment

Welcome to the Prior Learning Assessment website. We hope that you will find useful information here about the ways Prior Learning Assessment can help you achieve your goal of completing your college course in a way that does justice to your knowledge & expertise. If you require further information please see the contact information below.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) offers the possibility of receiving college credit for knowledge that has been gained outside the traditional classroom.

The Office of Experiential Learning helps potentially qualified people evaluate their prior learning to determine its equivalency to college level learning. Students should recognize that college credits are usually useful to them only if the credits are a required part of the major or certificate program in which they are actively engaged.

Prior Learning Credit is marked CL or LE on the Bucks County Community College transcript. This credit is not automatically accepted by transfer schools, and anyone planning to transfer should look into this matter with the transfer schools(s) concerned, before starting the Prior Learning Assessment process.

There are various methods of earning college credit for Prior Learning Experience by eligible candidates.

To discover whether PLA is a viable option for you to acquire credits toward your major

Then the Coordinator, Experiential Learning will determine your next step forward.

Thank you for visiting our website. We wish you every success and encourage you to find out whether PLA can enhance your college experience.
