Director of Temple’s Landscape Arboretum lectures about English and American gardening followed by Tyler Hall Formal Gardens tour April 25
Bucks County Community College, the first community college in the nation to offer a Historic Preservation program, proudly presents “English and American Gardening: 100 Years of Exchange and Cooperation” at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25.
The lecture by Jenny Rose Carey, director of the Landscape Arboretum at Temple University Ambler, will be followed by a tour of the Formal Gardens behind historic Tyler Hall on the Newtown campus.
Take a virtual trip “across the pond” as Carey presents a lecture and slides in room 142 of Tyler Hall, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
“Carey is a dynamic speaker,” notes Professor Lyle Rosenberger, founder of the Historic Preservation program. “She grew up in England where the language of her home was botany. She has a degree from Oxford University and is widely known for her lectures on horticulture.”
The second annual Tyler Gardens Tour & Landscape Lecture benefits the Tyler Gardens Restoration Fund. Tickets are $15 and $7 for students with current ID. Bucks County Community College is located at 275 Swamp Rd., Newtown, Pa. To learn more, contact Lyle Rosenberger at 215-504-8500, ext. 6007.
