Artmobile is an art museum for all ages housed in a 48-foot semi trailer. It travels throughout Bucks County from September to June, visiting all 13 school districts and many public sites. More than 90% of Artmobile's stops are to elementary, middle, or high schools.
A professional Artmobile Educator leads guided discussions that encourage visitors to develop critical thinking skills and an appreciation for works of art. Interactive displays promote further exploration and reinforce the concepts presented. Wall text and full-color fact sheets provide additional information for visitors.
Teacher's Manuals are written for each exhibition to enable teachers to integrate the Artmobile experience into their school curricula. They contain supplemental information about the exhibition, pre-visit and post-visit classroom activities, resource listings, and class handouts.
Artmobile is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA), its regional arts funding partnership. State government funding for the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance.
