Paying for College

Your college education is the best investment you'll ever make in your future. How you finance that investment will take some choices and decisions on your part.

If you won the lottery, and can pay out-of-pocket, then read no further. If you're like most people, you'll need a little help-and this page is for you.

  • Financial Aid is any grant, scholarship, loan or employment opportunity with the express purpose of helping a student meet educational and related expenses while attending college. During the 2006-07 academic year, 2,441 Bucks students received some form of financial aid, with the total amount of aid exceeding $8.5 million. A list of financial aid programs is available here. You'll find our Financial Aid office in The Hub, in the lower level of Pemberton Hall. Office hours during the fall and spring semesters are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. The Office is also open in the evening during the first week of classes. You can reach us at 215-968-8200 (Fax: 215-504-8522).

  • Scholarships [links to Scholarships page] are administered by the Bucks County Community College Foundation and our Financial Aid office. They are for use only at Bucks, unless otherwise noted. Generally, a committee selects recipients during the spring semester preceding the fall semester for which the scholarship is intended. Scholarships are available in the following areas:
    • Opportunities for Incoming Students
    • Transfer Scholarships
    • Dean's Academic Scholarships
    • College-Wide Awards
    • The Arts
    • Business Studies
    • Health, Physical Education and Nursing
    • Language and Literature
    • Math, Science and Technology
    • Social and Behavioral Science

Financial need-based scholarships are also available. Students are responsible for filing the appropriate form-Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA- prior to completing a scholarship application. Financial need is calculated by subtracting the Expected Family Contribution and any other financial aid from a student's cost of attendance. If any uncovered expenses remain, the student is considered to have financial need for additional assistance. Information about financial aid eligibility criteria and requirements is available here [add link], or contact the Financial Aid Office at 215-968-8200. To find out more about specific scholarships and awards, contact the Foundation at 215-968-8224 or scholarships@bucks.edu.
