Before You Register

  1. Have you identified your academic and career goals?

    The Career Center in Rollins 131, (215-968-8195) can assist you in this process.
    • Do you want to earn a certificate, an associate degree, and/or transfer?
    • What program/courses will help you to achieve your goals?
    • What courses do you need to take to meet the program requirements?
  2. Do you need financial assistance?
    • Contact the Financial Aid Office in Rollins 07, (215-968-8200) as soon as possible! There are deadlines.
    • Consider alternatives for securing the money you need (i.e. bank loan, employment, etc.)
  3. Do you have the prerequisite courses or skills you need for the courses you want to take?

    (See course descriptions in the College Catalog or check out which programs are available.)
    • Required courses and/or passing grades in previous courses?
    • Assessment test scores you need to take this course?
    • Computer skills, word processing, spreadsheet, database, or specific programs required by the course?

    If you're considering an online learning course, check with Online Learning (215-968-8052) to be sure that you have the technology and the skills you'll need to succeed.

  4. How many courses should you take? What schedule will best match your lifestyle?

    Remember that for every hour you spend in class, you will need to put in 2-3 hours on homework and reading assignments. Therefore, consider your:
    • Work schedule
    • Insurance requirements (full time= 12 or more credits)
    • Home/family responsibilities
    • Reliable transportation
    • Financial Aid requirements
    • Child care arrangements
  5. Are there academic limitations to the courses you can take? (See catalog for details.)
    • What is your grade point average (GPA)?
    • Are you on academic probation or alert?
    • How many courses can you take?
    • Do you need a certain number of credits to retain financial aid or health benefits?
  6. If you are planning on transferring to another college, will the courses you are taking transfer?

    Visit the Transfer Services Office to find out.(Rollins, 131, 215-968-8031)
  7. Have you taken care of your outstanding debts to the College, such as a balance on your tuition, fines, tickets or overdue library books?

    If you have not taken care of these responsibilities, you won't be able to register. Go to the Student Accounts Office, in Tyler 208 to make payments.

    See an Academic Advisor or counselor (Student Services Center, Rollins 08, 215-968-8182) for assistance if you have any questions or need assistance in these or other matters.

    REMINDER: If you decide to discontinue a course, you must officially withdraw from the course through the Office of Admissions. Failure to do so will result in the following:
    • You will fail the course
    • You will still be responsible for payment for the course
